Summary
The Landstede Group is an educational organisation that offers a wide variety of education types, such as secondary- and vocational-education. I currently work as a game designer for the vocational branch VeiligheidsAcademie NoordWest-Veluwe (VANWV) that offers courses and studies for the public- and defence-sector. The VANWV separates itself from other institutions, as innovative learning is their focuspoint. Mixed Reality
One of their forms of innovative learning is the use of Mixed-Reality hardware that supplements teaching in impressive ways. Specialised classrooms (VR.Cade) have been built from the ground up to facilitate a whole class of students with high end VR and VBS experiences. Applications
Having the benefit of being a large scale implementation of Mixed Reality, is that a large amount of students can experience dangerous, stressful or uncommon situations inside of a controlled and safe environment. This gives the students advantages over their peers when they are ready to join the workforce. |

Responsibilities
The VANWV works together with different development studios to build these scenarios. In 2021 I have been assigned to assist with the development on these projects. Giving advice and feedback on various aspects (functionality, game design, produced assets), and describing features in a complete and concise manner for the developers. While helping with development, I also took the responsibility for the logistics of running the VR.cade (Helping students and instructors, advising and maintaining the hardware and software solutions, including coordinating with the IT department). After the pandemic restrictions were lowered, I gained their trust to assist and attend events / conventions, representing the VANWV. This helped in establishing future relations and increasing awareness of what the Landstede Group does with Mixed Reality Solutions for the education system. |
